Astro IP Pool Size: Over 50 Million Unique IP Addresses Monthly

One of the key indicators of a proxy network's quality is the size of its IP pool. The larger the pool, the greater the diversity of available IP addresses, the broader the geographic coverage, and the lower the likelihood of reusing the same IPs for large-scale operations.

An IP pool refers to the total number of unique IP addresses available through a proxy service over a specific period of time. It is important to understand that an IP pool is a dynamic metric: new IPs continuously enter the network, others become unavailable, and many addresses are regularly reassigned by internet service providers and mobile carriers.

Our Calculation Methodology

We maintain a pool of more than 50 million unique IP addresses per month across all proxy types, including:

  • Residential proxies
  • Mobile proxies
  • Datacenter proxies

When calculating the size of our IP pool, we count every unique IP address that has been available through our infrastructure at least once during a calendar month.

Each IP address is counted only once, regardless of the number of connections, users, or sessions associated with it. This methodology eliminates duplicate counting and provides an accurate representation of the total number of unique IPs accessible to our customers.

The calculation includes:

  • Active residential IPs provided by home internet service providers
  • Mobile IPs assigned by cellular network operators
  • Datacenter IPs deployed within server infrastructure

Why the IP Pool Size Changes

Proxy networks are constantly evolving. Internet service providers reassign IP addresses to subscribers, mobile carriers rotate IP allocations, and datacenters regularly expand or reallocate their address space.

As a result, the number of IPs available at any specific moment may differ from the total number of unique IP addresses that pass through the network over the course of a month.

For this reason, we use a monthly unique IP pool metric to measure the scale of our network. This approach reflects the actual diversity of IP addresses available to customers during long-term usage rather than a temporary snapshot in time.

Benefits of a Large IP Pool

A large pool of unique IP addresses provides several advantages:

  • Reduced probability of IP reuse
  • Enhanced anonymity
  • Extensive geographic coverage
  • Improved performance for high-volume operations
  • Lower risk of blocks and access restrictions from target websites

By combining residential, mobile, and datacenter networks, Astro provides access to more than 50 million unique IP addresses every month, delivering the scalability and reliability required for projects of any size.

Why We Count Monthly Unique IPs Instead of Concurrently Available IPs

When evaluating proxy providers, it is important to distinguish between the total size of an IP pool and the number of IP addresses available simultaneously at any given moment.

The number of concurrently available IPs is a highly dynamic metric that changes continuously due to user activity, ISP policies, mobile carrier networks, IP rotation mechanisms, and overall infrastructure conditions.

This is especially true for residential and mobile proxies. The same user may receive multiple IP addresses throughout the day, while previously assigned addresses are returned to the network and become available to other users. As a result, the number of IPs available at a specific moment does not accurately reflect the true scale or diversity of a proxy network.

For this reason, the proxy industry commonly uses the metric of unique IP addresses observed over a defined period. This approach provides a more objective measure of the total number of distinct IPs that customers can access over time.

We use a monthly measurement period and count each unique IP address only once, regardless of how many times it was used or how many sessions were established through it. This prevents duplicate counting and provides a more accurate assessment of network scale.

The figure of "50 million unique IPs per month" means that more than 50 million distinct IP addresses become available through our infrastructure during a calendar month across our residential, mobile, and datacenter proxy networks.

We believe this methodology offers the most transparent and technically accurate way to measure proxy pool size because it reflects the actual diversity of IP addresses available to customers throughout extended use of the service.

Disclaimer

IP pool size is calculated using internal infrastructure data collected over a calendar month. The actual number of IP addresses available at any specific moment may vary due to IP rotation, provider policies, network conditions, and infrastructure updates.

  • Yes. Astro's IP pool includes residential proxies, mobile proxies, and datacenter proxies, providing access to a diverse range of IP addresses worldwide.

  • Proxy networks are dynamic. Internet service providers, mobile carriers, and datacenter operators regularly rotate, reassign, and update IP addresses, causing the number of concurrently available IPs to fluctuate.

  • A large IP pool increases IP diversity, improves anonymity, expands geographic coverage, reduces IP reuse, and helps lower the risk of blocks when performing large-scale operations.
